Reflecting on Seatrade Cruise Global’s highly anticipated return to Miami in 2019, I can’t help but draw parallels to my own experience, both personally and professionally, in the cruising industry. As some of you reading this may know, I was more-or-less born into “the business”. My grandfather was an ocean yachtsman, my great-uncle a shipping line navigator, and my own parents met and fell in love working on a cruise ship.
However, my own relationship with the maritime industry wasn’t a straight line. It wasn’t until after a slew of sales, marketing, and event operations roles that I joined Silversea Cruises as an International Hostess that things really clicked. To imbue a sense of joy, wonder, and adventure in every passenger was incredibly rewarding.
And yet, when my tenure at Silversea came to an end, it took a few years to find my way back to cruising…and this time through a wholly different lens. With that firsthand experience in my back pocket, understanding the herculean effort it took to make a production that massive feel effortless, my focus shifted from the passenger to the professional. I feel so grateful to be able to facilitate the community building of such a uniquely innovative, and frankly unstoppable group of people — people genuinely invested in elevating the cruise customer experience.
That’s why 2019’s Seatrade Cruise Global truly feels like a homecoming of sorts. The transition to Ft. Lauderdale wasn’t the most popular decision at the beginning, but in our three years there we saw relationships form both within and between sectors at an unprecedented scale…and we’re eager to harness that energy as we return to the Miami Beach Convention Center.
The way this community stepped up has in turn inspired us to pull out all the stops, and I’m excited to say 2019’s event is shaping up to be the biggest and boldest in our storied history. So what’s different?
For starters, we’re back to one gigantic floor in a state-of-the-art new facility with dedicated neighborhoods for each sector and several ways to quickly identify what’s new.
Secondly, we’re upping our content game with 50+ hours’ worth of world-class conference sessions, two theaters on the show floor and a brand-new demo stage.
Lastly, what good is a cruising convention without a boatload of fun? Get ready for immersive activations, events and experiences that’ll wow you…so you can wow your guests.
